Although connect TPLink Deco to Spectrum modem is simple, proper configuration guarantees improved performance and fewer problems.
- Get Your Equipment Ready
- Unplug your Deco units and Spectrum modem. Give it two minutes or so. Wait until the modem is completely online, which is typically indicated by solid status lights, after connecting it to power.
2: Attach the Deco to the Modem
- The main Deco unit’s WAN port, which is often marked with a globe emblem, should be connected to the Spectrum modem’s LAN port via an Ethernet connection. When the Deco is ready for setup, turn it on and watch for the blue pulse of the LED.
- Make use of the Deco App
- Get the TP-Link Deco app on Google Play or the App Store. Launch the application, follow the instructions, and log in or create a TP-Link ID. After choosing your Deco model, make sure it is pulsating blue. After identifying your Deco, the app will walk you through naming your network, creating a password, and, if necessary, adding more Deco units.
4: If necessary, bypass router mode.
- A double NAT problem could arise if your Spectrum modem is a gateway, which is a modem/router combo. In this instance, you have two options:
- Turn on the Spectrum gateway’s Bridge Mode.
- Alternately, select More > Advanced > Operation Mode and set the Deco to Access Point mode.
- Examine Your Network
- Check the signal strength and connected devices using the Deco app after setup. Additionally, you can use the app to test your speed directly.
- Restart all connected devices to ensure they’re getting a fresh IP from the Deco system. If problems persist, double-check with Spectrum that your modem is properly activated and not restricted.
