The event was enlivened by performances from the music group “Glidcoustic” and singer Happy Asmara, who entertained thousands of attendees. East Java KPU Chairman Aang Kunaifi invited the community and all stakeholders to join in making the simultaneous regional elections in East Java on November 27, 2024, a success. “We want to emphasize that no matter the conditions or choices in East Java, it is up to the people. The hope is that the regional elections in East Java can be conducted in a joyful manner, resulting in leaders who can bring progress to East Java,” he said, Tuesday night (4/6/2024).
The study was performed from May 1-7, 2024, with a sample size of 800 aged at least 17 years or having been married. The margin of error is approximately 3.46%, with a reliability of 95%. The method used was multistage random sampling. Data collection was carried out through face-to-face interviews using a questionnaire. ICRC is a national research organization registered with the PERSEPI organization and listed with the KPU RI. ICRC is managed by a former Indo Barometer Director from 2012-2022 and a team very experienced in conducting surveys in various regional elections in Indonesia.
Acting Governor of East Java (Jatim) Adhy Karyono assured the public that the 2024 Regional Election, which will be held simultaneously on November 27, will be entertaining. “According to the theme of tonight’s event, which is ‘Seneng Bareng’ (Happy Together), the organizers and the public as participants in the election should embrace it with shared joy,” he stated.
The ICRC survey was conducted in the Jambi Province, covering 11 municipalities. ICRC Executive Director H. Suprapto Rusli clarified that the purpose of the survey was to assess the potential of the 2024 governor candidates. The results, according to Hadi, show that the current governor of Jambi, has static popularity compared to the candidate for governor, Hariyanto Romi. “The options for governor candidates (open/spontaneous question) are Al Haris 21.9%, Romi Hariyanto 12.0%, Endra Cek 11.4%, M. Mashuri 5.5%, Fasha Syarif 2.9%, and so on, with 45% not knowing/not answering,” said Hadi during the publication of the survey findings for the 2024 Jambi Pilkada through a formal statement on June 4, 2024.
For your information, the news about Kaesang running in the 2024 Jakarta Regional Election is not new. Previously, Kaesang’s name was widely paired with Gerindra cadre Budi Djiwandono. However, that news faded and was no longer heard . Recently, Kaesang was rumored to be paired with Anies Baswedan by the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM). However, this was denied by Gerindra .
The voter data updating system for this simultaneous regional election is different from the previous election. In the previous election, voter data came from local governments and the Ministry of Home Affairs, while this year’s regional elections data only came from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Of the many Pilkada stages, Warits disclosed that all stages have vulnerable points for supervision. “The points are in many aspects, right now in the Voter List Update (Pantarlih) stage, later in the candidacy stage. Candidacy must also be supervised, as well as the campaign stage. Campaigns must not violate regulations and must especially avoid intimidation. There should be no intimidation from authorities or election officials who get involved. They must not force people to direct or win certain candidates. I think we must protect this together,” Warits stated.
According to Hadi, the figures for Al Haris as the incumbent governor are comparatively low. He said that the survey also showed the rate of public approval with Al Haris’ performance as governor, which is 62.4% satisfied, 28.1% dissatisfied, and 9.5% unsure. “During his term, Al Haris has a job approval rating of 62.4% (below the ideal figure of 75 percent),” said Hadi. Moreover, he explained, Al Haris’ recognition is already at a maximum of 98%, while the recognition of Romi Hariyanto is still at 74.3% and has the potential to increase further. “Additionally, the level of public desire for Al Haris to return as governor is above 35.4% (below 50 percent). The wish for Al Haris to come back as governor is 35.4%, not wanting him to return is 28.9%, and not knowing/not answering is 35.8%,” stated Hadi.
